Tehran to host Sa'di, Hugo event

Scholars are to attend a seminar in Tehran on world-famous Persian poet Sa'di of Shiraz and prominent French poet and novelist Victor Hugo.

Book City Institute in Tehran will host a two-day meeting on Sa’adi (C. 1213-1291) and Hugo (1802-1885) in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on April 18.

Director of the Iranian Academy of Persian Language and Literature, Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel, will deliver a keynote speech during the event.

Iranian literati, including Mir Jalaleddin Kazzazi, Ahmad Samiei Gilani, Fatemeh Eshqi, Tahmures Sajedi, Fereydoun Majlesi, Asghar Nuri and French scholar Jean-Marc Hovasse will also discuss the two prominent poets during the event.

The Sa’di Foundation in Tehran and Iran’s cultural office in France, as well as the Paris Diderot University, have organized the event to commemorate Iran’s Sa’adi National Day.

Victor Hugo is considered one of the greatest and best-known French writers.

World-renowned Persian poet Sa’di of Shiraz is one of the greatest figures in classical Persian literature. Some of his famous works include ‘Bustan’ (The Orchard) and ‘Gulistan’ (The Rose Garden).
